Cllr Tommy Prendergast
Following his retirement from the army in 1997, Tommy joined the Labour Party in Graiguenamanagh and is particularly proud to hold the position of chairman following in his grandfather's footsteps, Tom Bolger who founded the local Labour organisiation in Graiguenamanagh in 1917 and was it's first chairman.
In 1999 Tommy contested the local elections as a late candidate due to the withdrawal of his uncle through illness. He was unsuccessful in that election but was very happy with his performance. In the 2004 and 2009 local elections he extensivly canvassed with the now Dáil Deputy Ann Phelan. As a result of her election to the Dáil in the recent general election he was then co-opted onto Kilkenny County Council.
