Cllr William Paton
Married to Connie, we have three children and I work in the family company which supplies the funeral and monumental trades. I am a graduate of the Institute of Public Administration and was awarded a First Class Honours Master of Arts Degree in Public Management in July 2003.
I was first elected to Carlow County Council in June 1999 and re-elected by the voters of the Tullow Electoral Area in June 2004 and again in June 2009.
It has been a great privilege to serve you over the past ten years. It has been a decade of great change in Ireland and as a community we now face many difficult challenges ahead. The Tullow Electoral Area needs strong, experienced leaders now more than ever. I believe that I have provided that leadership for over 10 years and my priorities for the future are
Employment
Increased employment creation opportunities and re-training for people who have lost their jobs
Education
The reversal of the recent cruel education cut backs
Health Care
Greater access to health care by giving full Medical Cards to
- all children under 18
- those with on-going medical conditions,
- the unemployed and the low-paid
Housing
The provision of more 2 bed-roomed bungalows and 3 bed-roomed houses by the Council Council Services
Improved service delivery from Carlow County Council
Equity
Fighting government decisions which
- reduce take home pay or cut entitlements
- target the closure of Bethany House etc.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss these issues with you.
