Playgrounds and ramps for Borris and Kildavin

Issued : Wednesday 25 February, 2009

There are much-needed developments ahead for Borris and Kildavin.

A new footpath, pedestrian crossing and playground are to be built in Borris, while Kildavin will see three life-saving speed ramps installed in the village.

Borris Labour Councillor Willie Quinn made the announcement that funding has been granted for the projects. He also received a petition with over 400 names from Mrs Ann O'Toole, Woodlawn Park, Borris regarding the pedestrian crossing and says that funding has also been provided for speed ramps in Woodlawn Park and for road drainage at Coonogue, Ballymurphy, Borris.

" I believe that the people of the Borris electoral area are entitled to the same facilities as the people of Bagnelstown and Tullow. I am also calling on the Carlow County Council to provide funding to get the library service up and running in Borris," said Councillor Quinn.

" I also would like to welcome the two disabled parking spaces that have been provided outside the chemist and outside the post office," he said.

Other news around the area is that Carlow County Council will open an office in the old school (beside the CRISP Centre) in Borris two days a week. And from next January this office will be open five days a week.

" As the Borris Electoral area covers almost 50% of Carlow with the new boundaries, this new office will save many people time travelling to Carlow and Tullow", said Councillor Quinn.
