Hi, I am a newly elected councillor and served as Mayor of Newbridge after my election. I work as a trade union official with the union Mandate that represents workers in the retail and bar trade. I moved with my family to Newbridge from Dublin in 2005 and now live in Liffey Hall.
Since moving to Newbridge, I continued being involved with the Labour Party and have worked closely with Deputy Jack Wall on issues affecting residents in Newbridge.
I am also involved with the Kildare Trades Council and became Vice-Chair of the Council in 2008.
Whilst living in Dublin, I became and remain a Chairman of the Northside Partnership which is a local development company established to tackle unemployment and social exclusion in the Coolock,Darndale catchment area. My work with the Partnership have given me a great insight into how best to tackle the scourge of unemployment and how best to deal with social deprivation and community development.
I believe that we are all entering a period of great uncertainty with rising unemployment and economic slowdown which is sadly reflecting the record number of people signing on the dole in Newbridge.
For those reasons I decided to stand for election to the Town Council and in conjunction with my colleagues in the Labour Party we are committed to achieving a Fair Society.
You can help us achieve this by voting for me in the elections this June. Please do not hesitate to contact me about any local issues or concerns that you may have. I look forward to meeting with you in the coming months
