Universal Healthcare Now

universalhealthcare

"No Society can legitimately call itself civilized as long as people are denied access to healthcare because of lack of means.''

- Nye Bevan.

Under the current government who are pursuing an ideological drive of running down the public health care system to facilitate privatisation by their corporate friends we have:
- Crisis in Accident and Emergency
- A refusal to hire essential frontline staff like nurses where there are vacancies due to savage cutbacks
- Corporations and wealthy investors seeking lucrative tax breaks from Harney's proposed co located private hospitals
- Public health patients waiting in pain on hospital waiting lists while others can buy healthcare that everyone is entitled to

The government is using public money to fund private business expanding its grip of healthcare while at the same time starving the public healthcare system of much needed investment.

What's the alternative?

The Labour Party believes in universal health care for all, regardless of income or financial status; including free GP care for all.

The health service in Ireland does not need more reports or privatisation. It does need public investment so that essential frontline staff including doctors and nurses are hired to fill vacant posts.

If Britain was able to introduce a universal healthcare system free at the point of delivery to all while recovering from World War Two - there is no excuse for Ireland not to be able to deliver the same in the aftermath of the Celtic Tiger.

It is time to end the shameful drive towards privatization that seeks to put profit ahead of the welfare of our sick. If you agree with the Labour policy of universal health care then join us to make this policy a reality.
