The Pat Upton UCD branch received an award at Labour Party Conference for the UCD Labour week campaign that was run in February 2005. The branch received 250 euro as a joint second prize in the competition for best non electoral campaign.
Dermot Looney chair of the branch in 2004 -2005 received the award on behalf of the branch which was presented to him by the party chair Breeda Moynihan Cronin T.D.
The week involved a large number of high profile events and campaigns on campus. The UCD Labour branch is the fourth largest Labour Party branch in the country and is one of the most active meeting on a weekly basis and playing an active role in several grassroots campaigns.
The Dublin Central constituency won 1st prize for their ongoing campaign against hospital waiting lists which involves a weekly protest outside the Mater Hospital on Saturdays.
