Issued : Friday 8 February, 2008

Labour Youth is hosting a public debate on the EU Reform Treaty:

Saturday February 9, 1 pm - 3pm
Wynns Hotel, Lower Abbey Street

"Should we support the EU Reform Treaty - Public Debate"

To feature leading members of the YES and NO campaigns in Ireland as well as international speakers.

Speakers for:
* Joe Costello Labour T.D - Spokesperson on Europe and Human Rights
* Brian Duggan - European Parliamentary Labour Party

Speakers against:
* Roger Cole - Peace and Neutrality Alliance
* Brian Denny - Trade Unionists Against the EU Constitution

Speaking ahead of the debate, Labour Youth Chair Enda Duffy said: "There is a lot of confusion amongst the general public about the EU Reform Treaty. The debate we are hosting offers an excellent opportunity for members of the public to hear both sides of the argument and make an informed decision.

"The government has been negligent to date in the lack of information that it has provided about the Treaty. The government may not consider the future of Europe to be important - but we certainly do."
