UCD members at 'Sack the Government' protest

Branch History:

The UCD/ Charlie Donnelly Labour branch is one of the country's most active and largest youth branches in the country. Over the past few years branch has been at the forefront of student activism in UCD, we have been active on opposing the re-introduction of tuition fees and challenging the effects of cutbacks around the campus. We have also been involved in key national and international issues such as improving access to and equality in the healthcare and education systems, the preservation of civil liberties, anti war, anti deportations and global trade justice.

UCD members voting

This year, having more than doubled our membership from last year, we aim to encourage young people to partake in the political process by making their voices heard on the issues that are important to them. For far too long, young people have been discouraged from taking part and told there is little they can do to change the situation. Having been part of the mass mobilisation of young people over the past year, especially in relation to fees and cutbacks in education, we feel this is not the case and that there has never been a better time to stand up and be counted.
