Carberry Calls on SDCC to Consider Knocklyon for Pilot Deposit Return Scheme
Issued : Thursday 7 February, 2019
Areas : Knocklyon, Ballycullen
Aideen Carberry, Labour local election candidate for the Firhouse-Bohernabreena Electoral Area, has called on South Dublin County Council to consider the Knocklyon area as a potential location for a pilot Deposit Return Scheme currently being considered by the council.
"The council is currently in discussions with a provider on the potential provision of a pilot Deposit Return Scheme. I would welcome the introduction of such a scheme; and am hopeful it will become a reality. I believe the area of Knocklyon is a prime location to be part of this initiative" Carberry said.
"Climate change and waste reduction are important issues to many residents in the Knocklyon area and beyond. There has been much activity in our community regarding the tackling of one of the biggest issues of our generation. Small local changes have the potential to have lasting broader impacts; and I believe it is something the residents of the area would welcome. Local businesses would also, I am sure, welcome the opportunity to be part of such an initiative" Carberry concluded.
