Ballymahon Local Representative
I am proud to represent Labour in Longford/Ballymahon area where I have been living for several years. I am passionate about rural Ireland and local development. I have been on the committee of my local Tidy Town group and actively applying for local funding to support the development of grass root projects.
As a local area Rep, I want to work with communities on issues that matters the most and helping implement Labour policies on housing, the future of health, access to education, green energy solutions and the development of rural Ireland.
I have first-hand experience of long commuting to Dublin to access employment using an inadequate public transport system. I work as a Careers consultant in UCD and I am passionate about access to Education. We have seen how much the cost of accommodation in Dublin and access to transport can impact students’ decision to progress to higher education. In recent years, I have co-founded a micro-brewery in Ballymahon and creating much needed employment locally. Entrepreneurship has been a very rewarding professional experience so far and I hope to encourage more young people to follow this path.
I am also proud to be the voice of the ‘New Irish’ and ensure they are represented adequately and that their voice is heard. I am keen to showcase diversity in all its forms and how it can represent a driving force in the electorate.
I have canvassed for the last three elections, presidential, local and for the general election and have been hearing the feedback of our constituents on the doors. Basic access to care, economic struggles and access to housing are the main topics I want to work harder on to make a positive impact with the help of our elected representatives.
Please get in touch if you have any thoughts or suggestions and if you like to join me canvassing for the elections. I look forward to working with you to make our communities a better place to live for all.
