Over €450,000 awarded under 2016 DLR Grant scheme

Labour General Election Candidate for Dun Laoghaire, Carrie Smyth welcomed the announcement that over €450,000 will be allocated under the 2016 DLR Grant Scheme to individuals, groups and organisations throughout Dun Laoghaire Rathdown, saying it would help local groups expand and grow their services into the future.

Smyth added: “This funding, approved by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council under the 2016 dlr Grant Scheme, is very welcomed news for local groups, individuals and organisations throughout Dun Laoghaire Rathdown.

“This funding will enhance the diversity of events, sports, heritage, arts and business activities available in local communities.

“Projects receiving funding under the scheme cover a wide range of interests and are spread throughout the county.

“60 projects in Dun Laoghaire will receive funding, totally over €188,500, including arts projects such as Dalkey Creates (€3,800) and ArtNetDLR (€4,300), community groups like the Sea Scouts (€3,000) and the Mounttown Neighbourhood Youth and Family Project (€4,000) and sports groups including Monkstown Boxing Club (€5,000) and Royal St. George Yacht Club (€20,000). 

“Over €45,500 has been allocated to 43 projects in the Killiney-Shankill area. This includes funding for a major upgrade of the Loughlinstown Community Rooms (€2773), the Seapoint RFC Annual Blitz (€3,500) and €5,000 to help promote the successful Underground Cinema Film Festival.

“In Blackrock over €27,000 has been awarded to 21 projects including Music in Monkstown who will receive €2,100 to develop and expand the festival.

“A number of countywide initiatives will also receive funding including the Dublin Community Games (€3,000), the Dublin Parks Tennis League (€9,000) and the DLR Creativity in the Classroom group (€2,600).

“This funding will ensure that these projects are supported right through 2016.”
