Darryl O'Callaghan

The local man for the local community

I am a local businessman from Sean Mac Dermott Street in Dublin central. I hold a certificate in conflict resolution and mediation from UCD and I study psychology part-time at Dublin business school. I joined the Labour party when I was 15 years old and since then I have worked closely with many community groups in the north inner city.

I am a keen sportsperson having played soccer with Sheriff Y.C. , I boxed with Corinthians A.B.C.  I swam for Dublin S.C. I was a mixed martial artist with bodywork and straight blast gyms, I was also a founder , secretary and member of Liberty House F.C.

As someone who has lived my entire life in this area, I would be honoured to represent the views of  neighbours and friends. I believe I bring a vast knowledge and understanding of the city centre. As a local shopkeeper I am in day to day contact with the people of this constituency.   From speaking to the people in my community it is clear that anti social behaviour, break ins and a real lack of local employment for local people are key issues and I will remain committed to championing these concerns.

I am an honest hardworking person who is easy to talk to always found locally. Above all, I am proud of where I come from and have a deep desire to make the city a better placed for all of us. With your support I will seek to ensure a just, fair and inclusive local government.

I will promote community gatherings and social inclusion schemes to prevent isolation, tackle commercial rates hopefully boosting the local economy and creating jobs. Of course the one thing we are all aware of is badly needed more social and affordable housing schemes which will have my full focus.
