Luas Cross City will create 800 jobs, boost Cabra and Phibsboro - Meenagh

Speaking at the Labour Party Conference, Saturday Feb 15th Enfield, Co Meath

It is hard to believe someone could build a light rail system with two lines that nearly connect but don't.

But it is a huge victory for the Labour party to build the connecting line in the middle of a massive economic crises. This is a small mess Fianna Fáil left us to clean up.

The 800 jobs created in the construction of this will be a massive boost to Dublin.

I want to pay tribute to the members of Labour Youth, Labour Reps, councillors from other parties, trade unionists and activists for joining together in campaigning to name the new bridge after Rosie Hackett, a true activist, trade unionist and a credit to Dublin.

I know in 2017, when I take a Luas from Broombridge, through Cabra East, Phibsboro, DIT Grangegorman which Labour also is building, right into town, It will be a huge benifit for the area. It will be a signal that Labour delivers while others make noise.

If we can deliver this after 3 years of governemnt int he middle of the biggest crices to face the country, what will we be able to deliver over the next 100 years?
