MEENAGH WELCOMES OPENING OF ROSIE HACKETT BRIDGE
Issued : Tuesday 20 May, 2014
Labour Party Candidate for Cabra, Finglas and the Navan Road Declan Meenagh has today welcomed the opening of the Rosie Hackett bridge, both because it commemorates an important woman and Trade in Irish history but also as an important milepost for the Luas Cross City Project.
“I want to congratulate all the Labour party members, members of Labour Youth, Labour Women, the Labour team on Dublin City Council and other activists, trade unionists and historians who campaigned to commemorate the life of a woman involved in the Rising and the 1913 lockout as well as a founder of the Irish Woman Worker’s Union. The process which the naming committee used involved a broad public consultation and engaged a lot of Dubliners”
“This bridge is an important part in the Luas Cross City project which will link the two separate Luas lines with DIT in Grangegorman, Phibsboro and Cabra at Broombridge. This is a major investment approved by Labour which will create up to 800 jobs and give the areas it serves a huge boost”
