RECYCLING FACILITY – GLEN ELLAN ROAD
Issued : Monday 15 February, 2016
I placed a question to the Swords Area Committee requesting a comment on the suitability of the site outside St Colmcille's GAA Club for the recycling facility. I have a received a number of complaints regarding the site being unsuitable, difficult to keep clean and causing a traffic hazard.I have attached a photo from this morning showing the difficulty which occurs when the bins are emptied.
I am attempting to have the Council engage with the owners of the old Motorola site across the road to have the recycling facility moved to that location. there is ample space for people to pull in and recycle safely and it would keep the Glen Ellan Road tidy!
I would like to hear from any residents who have had issues with this facility. If you could comment or email me on [email protected]
ITEM NO. 36 Question: Councillor D. Smith - Recycling facility Glen Ellan Road. “To ask the Chief Executive to examine the recycling facility on the Glen Ellan Road, outside St Colmcille's GAA Club and comment on its suitability as a site for such a facility given litter, traffic and safety concerns?”
Reply: The bring bank on the Glen Ellan Road adjacent to St. Colmcille’s GAA Club accommodates usage by residents of the Glen Ellen and Applewood residential area and occasional users of the GAA Club, amongst others, and is therefore a well-used facility. Having liaised with the Operations Department, the Waste Management Section is not aware of any specific issue regarding this site. If the Councillor is aware of any specific issues, the Waste Management Section would be happy to investigate further.
