Limerick schools get boost in new School Capital Plan
Issued : Thursday 19 November, 2015
More major school investment projects in Limerick have been given the green light by the new School Buildings Plan announced today by Education Minister Jan O’Sullivan.
“It’s extremely welcoming news and I am really pleased with Limerick featuring so strongly in the new School Capital Plan announced today and with a number of critical projects in Limerick being prioritised by Minister Jan O'Sullivan”, Labour Councillor for Limerick City East”, Elena Secas stated.
“This is the biggest ever schools projects delivery for Limerick and it will benefit pupils, teachers and parents, just everybody, for generations to come”, Cllr. Secas added.
“I am particularly glad to see the announcement of a new secondary school in the Castletroy area where there is a rapidly growing population and the need for greater investment and better education infrastructure has been constantly raised by local residents in the last couple of years. I am also delighted to see major projects announced in existing schools in Limerick City East, including Monaleen N.S., St. Vincents Special School, Gaelscoil Sheoirse Clancy and Coláiste Mhichíl. Another important factor is that all these projects will also provide much needed jobs in the local construction industry”, Cllr. Secas concluded.
