George is a former Mayor of Wexford, a position he has held on 4 occasions and a role which George's late grand-father Eddie Hall held on two previous occasions.He was the youngest member of Wexford Borough Council following his election in June 2004 when he became part of a strong Labour team on that council when all 5 Labour candidates were successful. In June 2009, George topped the poll in his local electoral area, securing over 2,000 1st preference votes. In 2014 he was elected on the first count and in 2019 he once again returned as poll topper with over 2,300 votes.
In the Wexford Dail By Election of 2019 he secured a remarkable 20% of the 1st preference vote before finishing in 2nd place on 14,476 votes.
His poll topping performances are a testament to his consistent lobbying and work on behalf of the people of Wexford.
For the past 11 years George has been a key member of Deputy Brendan Howlin's team in Wexford. George has worked beside Brendan in the delivery of an array of infrastructural projects to Wexford from schools to motorways to natural gas and continues to be 'ambitious for Wexford' in every sector.
His key focus for the future is to strive to bring the massive State investment required to see Rosslare Europort achieve its full potential, a University of the South East with a fit for purpose Wexford Campus ans a massive National home building programme to end the scourge of homelessness and the rental crisis. New second level schools in the county are also priorities for George.
His passion and commitment to Wexford and its people is something George is renowned for and he brings this to his politics.
He is a founding member of Wexford Marinewatch and is Chairman of the groups Board of Management. Marinewatch was founded in 2012 and has been hugely successful is battling suicide in Wexford Harbour. The group boasts 120 volunteers who carry out nightly patrols at Wexford Bridge and Harbour.
George is a board member of Wexford Women's Refuge and is a key member of the building sub group who are about to deliver a new €5 million refuge in the coming months. He is a founding board member of the Collective Sensory Group in Wexford Town and also a board member of Ard Aoibhinn Services.
