My name is Graham Spring and I would like to welcome you to my Labour Party web page. I am a first time candidate for the Tralee Municipal Area in the Local Elections on May 23rd 2014. My wife Carmel and I live in Tralee and have three young children.
It was an honour to be selected as a candidate by the Labour Party to contest the 2014 Local Election. I have been involved in both general and local election campaigns as a canvasser and Director of Elections for Labour Party candidates for many years and, as part of a three person Labour Party election team, I am now looking forward to the challenge of seeking a Council seat in the upcoming local elections. The election campaign will provide an opportunity to discuss and listen to people’s concerns.
In my role as a parliamentary assistant in a TD’s office, I am acutely aware of the issues and problems facing people and I am very committed to seeking a resolution to such areas of concern. I plan to act as a strong link between the Local Authority and the people of the Municipal Area in order that their concerns will be relayed, that the challenging issues are raised and to ensure that quality services are provided.
My priorities, if successfully elected, will be to:
- Work with local voluntary and state commercial development groups to make Tralee more attractive to potential investors and business.
- Improve the provision of housing, to reduce the current housing list and to ensure that local authority housing is well maintained to set standards.
- Advocate the improvement of Health Services in Kerry
- Work with local tourism development bodies to capitalise on the Government’s incentives, such as the reduction of the VAT rate for tourism related goods and services and the introduction of a 0% Air Travel Tax, to promote Tralee and Kerry as Tourism destinations.
Please contact me if you seek assistance or would like to discuss any matter. Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
