EXTRA TEACHING POSTS A WELCOME MOVE - TUFFY

Labour TD Joanna Tuffy has welcomed the news that 500 additional resource teaching posts are being deployed with immediate effect to address the rise in demand for special education.

“The issue was one which Labour backbenchers like myself felt particularly strongly about and raised directly with Minister Quinn. I am glad the Minister has taken our views on board and acted decisively to ensure that there will not now be any reduction in the allocation of resource teaching posts in schools across the country.

“Today’s announcement reinforces Labour’s commitment to supporting children with special needs in our education system and I welcome the Minister’s decision in this matter.”
