450 NEW JOBS FOR WEST DUBLIN
Issued : Tuesday 24 February, 2015
Labour TD, Joanna Tuffy has today welcomed the decision to invest €26 million to expand and develop the Liffey Valley Centre in west Dublin
Speaking following the announcement, the Labour TD for Dublin Mid-West said: “I am glad that the new development will include almost 3500 square metres of civic space. When this Town Centre Plan was drawn up and agreed by the Council several years ago, then Labour councillor Eamon Tuffy made a formal submission to the original draft. This submission proposed that as well as bringing businesses and jobs to the north Clondalkin area, it would also bring civic facilities, and begin the long term process of turning a shopping centre into a town centre.
"I would encourage the Local Employment Services to get involved with the prospective businesses that stand to benefit from this announcement. It is important that together, they work to encourage and support the employment of local people on the Live Register.
"The decision confirms increased confidence in Ireland amongst the investment community. It is particularly significant that an investment of this size is being made in the retail business and restaurant industry.
"With planning permission already in place, the early availability of 250 construction jobs, followed by 450 permanent jobs is a boost for the area, especially job seekers and school leavers."
