A Living Wage
Work should always pay. The Labour Party believes that everyone who is working should earn enough to live on, and that’s why we support the Living Wage campaign.
The Living Wage is good for workers, good for families, good for business and good for society. Last year a group of trade unionists, civil society organisations and economists set the Living Wage in Ireland at €11.50 per hour.
As our economy recovers, we need to campaign for decent pay for all. Work is always the best way to get out of poverty.
Join us in our campaign for a Living Wage today.
The Living Wage is based on the cost of living unlike the minimum wage (€9.15) and employers sign up to pay the Living Wage on a voluntary basis. The €11.50 hourly rate is based on needs and not wants.
All worker are entitled to a fair day's pay for a fair day's work.
