Sustained action to end homelessness and rough sleeping

Homelessness is the most visible and harrowing example of a housing system that isn’t working.

In Government, Labour has increased the budget to support people who are homeless by 100%.

Our plan for the next five years:

  • Work closely with the voluntary housing associations to finally eliminate long-term homelessness
  • Continue to ensure that enough short-term places are available so that no one has ever to sleep rough.
  • Provide houses as quickly as possible, including fast-build homes, to take families out of emergency accommodation.
  • Implement a housing-led approach to homelessness that eradicates the need for stop-gap accommodation except in emergency situations.
