Following my motion below which was discussed at the recent Athy Muncipial District meeting , Council officials have agreed to seek funding from a number of sources , in order to provide the necessary safety works at the bridge. The Council have also provided a premlinary deisign of what these safety measures might look like. 

0. that the council immediately seek the funding from the National Transport Authority for safety measures at Kildangan Bridge, Kildangan, that all other avenues of seeking such funding be also investigated, given the serious concerns of all users of the bridge and considering previous motions and current designs for the safety of all users of the bridge.

1. Report: The Council is investigating the possibility of funding for provision of a pedestrian footpath over the railway bridge at Kildangan as a draft design has been completed. Once funding has been identified then the project can be developed. There is no allocation for funding this year but the council will continue to press for funding in the next round of allocations.
