CUSTOMERS STILL IN THE DARK OVER BIN CHARGES

Climate Change Spokesperson Sean Sherlock has called on Minister Denis Naughten to clarify what the position is for customers of waste contractors outside of the IWMA agreement that was set in motion last July.

“Customers who are not able to switch providers are being charged by pay by weight with no consideration being given for those with medical conditions.

“The Minister’s decision to fudge the issue by delaying the pay-by-weight regime that was meant to be introduced in January, simply means a delayed concern for families and individual who have medical condition that generate more than average waste.

“For the Minister to simply say, ‘Think before you Dump’ and believe that the answer lies merely in a public relations exercise rather than effective action is a mirror to government as a whole. Spin and delay the hard choices.”
