Statement on the resignation of Enda Kenny

17 May 2017

Statement by Brendan Howlin, Leader of the Labour Party.

“I believe that Enda Kenny will be remembered as Taoiseach of the Government that brought our country back from the brink.

“The period from 2011 to 2016 was a difficult time to hold public office in Ireland. But regardless of the challenges we faced, Enda Kenny took them on with humour, grace, and determination.

“He did his country much service, and I wish him the very best in the next chapter of his life.

“I have no doubt that he will enjoy more time with Fionnuala, Aoibhinn, Ferdia and Naoise, and that he will also continue to make a substantial contribution to Irish public life.”
