Nash welcomes creation of new public sector union
Labour Party spokesperson on Employment and Workers’ Rights, Senator Ged Nash, has welcomed the amalgamation of IMPACT, Civil and Public Services Union and Public Sector Executive Union into Fórsa.
Commenting on the development, Senator Nash said:
“The decision by IMPACT, CPSU and PSEU to amalgamate into one union, Fórsa, is a positive move for public sector workers and for the trade union movement generally.
“Workers across the civil and public service will now have a more cohesive voice representing them across a range of areas. This new union will be very well placed to deal with any challenges that public sectors workers will face down the line, such as pay policy, the challenge of automation and the delivery of new and improved services for citizens.
“On behalf of the Labour Party, I wish this new force in the Irish trade union movement all the best.
“I look forward to working with Fórsa and other colleague unions to help achieve the best possible outcomes for the Irish public sector workers and public services in general in the years ahead.”
