Day 10 - Why Cork should vote Labour
Posted on May 08, 2007 at 01:26 PM
With 16 days left to polling day, we are launching our seven-point plan for Cork which includes proposals to develop a transport network to ease congestion, a €1 flat-fare within the Cork city and suburbs; a better health service for Cork; alleviate over crowding in our schools and establish a regional authority for Cork, with a directly elected Mayor.
The press conference to launch the Seven-Point Plan was held this morning and attended by Pat and all of Labour's candidates in Cork, Kathleen Lynch, Michael McCarthy, Ciaran Lynch, John Mulvihill, Sean Sherlock and Martin Coughlan after which Pat did a walkabout with the candidates in Cork City before heading to the Lough for a photo opportunity.
Now more than ever the people of Cork need to send a clear signal that it wants to reverse the neglect of their region. Labour is putting forward a dynamic team of candidates with the aim of taking a Labour seat in each of the five constituencies in the region, that's the kind of result we need if we are to achieve the change to a better, alternative government. You can read more about our candidates in Cork North-Central, Cork South-Central, Cork East, Cork North West and Cork South West.
