'The Way Forward' is the theme of this year's Tom Johnson summer school which is being held this weekend in Galway in the Menlo Hotel..
As usual there is a packed agenda of speakers and debates with a number of high profile names attending including Pat Rabbitte, Michael D Higgins, Willie Penrose, Jan O'Sullivan, Eamon Gilmore, Joanna Tuffy and Tommy Broughan. Guest speakers will include Jeremy Corbyn, British Labour Party and opponent of the war in Iraq and ICTU General Secretary David Begg.
To give you a flavour of the weekend there will be debates on the future of Labour following the election, Labour in Northern Ireland, migration as well as a discussion on twenty-first century socialism.
Each year the Jim Kemmy award is given to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to a human rights based campaign and this year the award is being given to Larry Wheelock for his tireless campaign to establish the truth in relation to how his brother Terence died while in Garda custody in 2005.
Labour Youth member Dermot Looney will be blogging the event which you can read on his blog here. Photographs of the weekend will also be available on Labour Youth's Flickr account here. You can also find out more about Tom Johnson here on Wikipedia.
