Come clean with the opposition and the country about Budget plans - Gilmore tells Cowen

Posted on March 25, 2009 at 04:37 PM

Once again Leaders' Questions saw Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore press the Taoiseach to come clean about the public finances and in particular what financial target the Government is hoping to achieve in the emergency Budget taking place on April 7th.

"You should tell this House what the target is, this isn't your money, this isn't the Government's money, you are not running a private business over there," Eamon told the Taoiseach.

"You are running our business, the public business; this is about tax payers' money. It is about time you came into this House, levelled with us levelled with the people of this country about what the scale of this problem and lets all get down to dealing with it collectively."

You can watch the video to see Eamon's full contribution and you can read the full exchange on the Oireachtas website.
