"Same old, same old" Gilmore says about reshuffle
Posted on March 23, 2010 at 09:51 PM
"This is still a tired, out of touch, out of ideas, out of time Fianna Fáil Government," the Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore TD said this afternoon following Cowen's announcement of his front bench reshuffle. Eamon added that the reshuffle was not a fresh start, or a change, but the "same old, same old".
He added: "Everywhere I go in this country I am asked one question, namely, 'When are you getting them out? Unfortunately, we cannot get them out on the Opposition benches. However, I put this challenge to each of the so-called Independent Members."
Eamon told the Independent members of the House that if they vote for the re-election of the Government that they cannot tell the people in Thurles, Killarney or Sean McDermott Street that they oppose the Government "they shoulder the responsibility for having kept it in office far longer than it should be and far longer than the people want it to be there".
Eamon's full speech can be viewed on the accompanying video, while you see Deputy Joan Burton's and Deputy Michael D Higgins' contributions on our You Tube channel; the full transcript of the Dail proceedings on the Oireachtas website.
