Gilmore questions Cowen on EU Finance Ministers' stablisation fund

Posted on May 12, 2010 at 12:58 PM

Leaders' Questions in the Dáil this morning centred on the weekend agreement by EU Finance Ministers who established a €750billion stabilisation fund for the euro and EU economies.

The Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore TD asked a number of questions about the agreement including its implications and consequences for our national budgeting, the regulation of hedge funds, a Robin Hood tax on financial transactions and the strengthening of financial markets in Europe.

Speaking in response to the Taoiseach, Eamon said: "The Taoiseach's responses on where the Government stands on the future of the regulatory regime in Europe are on the vague side."

You can see Eamon's full contribution on the accompanying You Tube video while you can read the whole exchange on the Oireachtas website.
