Shared Priorities - The Dementia Agenda in Europe and Ireland

This Friday Nessa Childers MEP in association with The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is hosting a seminar entitled 'Shared Priorities, The Dementia Agenda in Europe and Ireland'. The day will be held on Friday, June 17th in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dublin 8, starting at 9am and finishing up at 3.45pm.

The one day event will be of interest to organisation and individuals involved in policy design, advocacy and service provision. There is no admission fee for the day and places are limited.

Explaining the day Nessa Childers said: "This one-day seminar will examine the impact of dementia policy and planning in Europe and Ireland, Speakers will address themes of living with Alzheimer's disease including support for families, legislative issues, Government policy and research. The aim of the seminar is to highlight the key issues in dementia policy and programmes within EU initiatives, in light of the proposed development of a National Dementia Strategy and Mental Capacity legislation for Ireland."

Among the speakers are Dr Roisin Rooney, Executive Agency for Health and Consumer, European Commission, Jean George, Executive Director, Alzheimer Europe, Dominic Trepel, Health Economist, University of Limerick, Maurice O'Connell, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Dr Suzanne Cahill, TCD, Enda Connolly, The Health Research Board, Patricia Rickard-Clarke, Law Reform Commisson, the Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore TD and Nessa Childers MEP.
