Women and the Rose

Posted on April 19, 2012 at 10:12 AM

"Women and the Rose" tells the personal stories of some of the women who were instrumental in the Labour movement from the 1960s up to the present day. Many of the rights we take for granted in 2012, from contraception, divorce, the right to work and equal pay were fought for by these women and others like them.

The video is a tribute to their struggle and sacrifice and a taster for the full documentary which will be screen as part of the Labour Party Centenary celebrations in September.

The film has been produced by Senator Susan O'Keeffe in order to recognise the contribution of women to the Irish Labour Party and wider Labour movement and to continue inspire women to play a full and active role in the Labour Party.

Please visit Susan's website for updates, to contribute to the film, and to find out how you can attend the premiere and join us in celebrating the vital role women have played in the Irish Labour Party.
