The National Transport Authority's new online National Journey planner was launched today by Minister Alan Kelly and Gerry Murphy, Chief Executive for the National Transport Authority. The planner app, which is available for Android and iPhones (iPhone app will be available shortly), covers bus, rail, tram, taxis, ferries and walking with fully mapped out route information, printable timetables and details of overall journey times - all in one place. It will enable people to plan journeys from door-to-door, anywhere in Ireland, using public transport.

Minister Kelly said: "For the first time there is a one-stop-shop information point for all licensed and contracted public transport providers making planning journeys much easier. It is a step forward in integrating public transport information for users. Nothing of this scope and extent has ever been available in Ireland before, we are now one of the few countries in Europe with a multi-operator service on a national basis."

Minister Kelly also explained how the National Transport Authority is encouraging feedback on the app on their newly created feedback page as part of the next stage of the project. People will be encouraged to use their local knowledge to tell of short cuts or walkways that are not covered in the map as well as offering suggestions as to how to make the planner better.
