Changes being made to the PRTB to help tackle anti-social behaviour

Posted on March 04, 2013 at 03:24 PM

Following representations made by various Labour TDs Minister Jan O'Sullivan is introducing measures which will help people living in housing estates experiencing problems with anti-social behaviour.

Mniister Jan OSullivan recently introduced legislation to amend the Private Residential Tenacies Board which will make it easier for Residents' Associations to take a case regarding anti-social behaviour on behalf of a resident. In addition a resident who is dealing with anti-social behaviour must resolve the issue with the landlord; under the new measures a resident must contact a landlord but if some reason they are unable to they will still be able to take a case directly to the PRTB. This is not the case at the moment. In the video Minister O'Sullivan explains why the changes are being made.
