Minister Lynch announces free GP visits for the over 70s

Registration is now open which will give people over 70 free GP visits. Today’s announcement by Minister Kathleen Lynch marks the second stage of universal GP care and applied to those aged 70 and over who do not currently hold a medical or GP visit card. The service will commence on August 5th.

Minister Kathleen Lynch said the GP visit card shows the Government is committed to strengthening and developing primary care services. 

“As we continue to expand free GP care to those under 18 years of age,, we will also provide more services in primary care,” Minister Lynch said. 

A helpline has been established offering help and guidance to those who need it, call 1890 252 919 (weekdays 8am to 8pm).
