Posted on February 11, 2016 at 11:39 AM

This morning in Limerick City Minister for the Environment and Deputy Leader Alan Kelly and Minister for Education Jan O'Sullivan launched our plan for affordable housing.

[You can read our plan here]

Before the launch both Ministers headed along to the former Tait Clothing site where 82 new units are currently under construction. In our housing plan we want to build more social homes and will deliver 1110,00 social housing units by 2020. Right now, over 5,000 social homes are under construction and in the last year, over 420 local authority staff have been added to housing sections all around the country

At the launch Jan O'Sullivan who was previously Minister for Housing and Planning spoke about our solutions-based plans for housing "Solutions in housing require long-term planning and investment – not short-term soundbites."

Minister for the Environment, Alan Kelly spoke about housing being one of the hardest parts of the recovery but we are getting there and our vision for housing can be delivered on. “We want to make sure that every person should have access to good quality, secure, affordable housing. We will deliver a sustainable system of housing provision to meet the need of individuals and families across every sector – owner-occupier, private rental and social and affordable housing.
