Senator Kelly secures Euro nomination

The Labour Party candidate for the MEP seat in Ireland South has been chosen following the weekend's selection convention held in Cork. Senator Alan Kelly and Arthur Spring both put themselves forward and the more than 500 delegates voted for Senator Kelly to be their candidate.

Chaired by Roisin Shortall TD, all our Munster representatives also attended the event as did the Party Leader Eamon Gilmore.

Speaking after Senator Kelly secured the nomination, Deputy Gilmore said: "I will be working with Alan in his bid to secure this seat for the Labour Party, just as I will be working with Arthur in rebuilding the organisation in Kerry so we can ensure that Labour will have Dáil representatives in the Kingdom after the General Election."
