Sign Up to Labour Youth's #EndPayDiscrimination Campaign

Labour Youth wants to see all people paid the same rate of pay for the same work. People's pay should not be subject to discrimination on the grounds of age or gender. We believe that it is crucial in the fight for equality that equal work deserves equal pay.

Labour Youth National Conference 2012

Labour Youth Executive 2012 - 2013

In this post the newly elected Chairperson of Labour Youth Aideen Carberry writes about the Labour Youth National Conference held over the weekend.

Our national conference was a great success! Delegates from all over Ireland debated wide-ranging and varied motions, and participated in workshops over the three days.

An Tánaiste and leader of the Labour Party, Eamon Gilmore TD, opened conference on Friday. He urged students and young people to make sure that they use their vote this coming Saturday. We have long called for elections and referendums to be held on a weekend date to maximise the youth vote.

Tom Johnson Summer School

The dust has settled on the centenary year Tom Johnson Summer School, and it was definitely a memorable one; from Eamon Gilmore's historic statement of support for gay marriage, to Joan Burton's defence of the welfare state in a time of austerity, to Brendan Howlin's response to the new deal on bank debt across the eurozone. Organised by Labour Youth and directed by Labour Youth Policy and Education Officer Deirdre Hosford, the school gave Labour members a chance to take a step back and debate the lessons of the Labour Party's first one hundred years, and to discuss future challenges.

The Tom Johnson Summer School - are you coming?

Tom Johnson

The Tom Johnson Summer School is taking place this year in the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny, from June 29th - July 1st.

The Summer School is hosted by Labour Youth for all party members and it is widely regarded as the most enjoyable weekend of the party's calendar with some live music, panel discussions and a semi-formal Dinner on the Saturday evening.
