This afternoon on a very windy Millennium Bridge over the River Liffey we launched our manifesto for Dublin, A Fair Deal for a Fair City. Present at the launch was our Deputy Leader Joan Burton TD, our Dublin Central by-election candidate Senator Ivana Bacik, our candidate for the Dublin South by-election Senator Alex White and Councillor Kevin Humphreys who is leader of the Labour group on Dublin City Council.

Speaking on the manifesto Deputy Burton said: "Labour's manifesto for Dublin sets out steps we can take to enhance our capital's natural advantages, such as its green spaces and easy access to the sea and the mountains; its cultural creativity; and its energy efficiency.

With four weeks to go until polling, today we launched our Local Election manifesto 'Getting Communities Working'. Speaking at the launch which was held in Dublin the Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore said: "These local elections are unlike any other in recent memory. Across the country, in every community, and on every doorstep, there is only one issue: jobs. With more than one in every 10 people in the labour force on the live register, this recession has gone deep into every town, village and suburb in Ireland."

Eamon went on to explain how at a local level labour is proposing a range of measures aimed at stimulating local job creation and how Labour's approach to the economic crisis must be guided by fairness.

Day five of the election campaign and time to launch our manifesto, The Fair Society. The media centre at election HQ was packed out and the press conference was led by Pat with contributions by Joan Burton and Eamon Gilmore before answering questions from the assembled media.

Speaking at the event Pat said: "Four years ago in Killarney, I set out my vision for the future of our country. I called it, the Fair Society. Today in publishing the Labour Party manifesto, I am setting out a blueprint for building that Fair Society."
