Last Saturday, the Labour Party held a conference entitled 'Winning the West' in Castlebar. The Conference saw over 200 activists from 12 constituencies across the North and West of Ireland come together to discuss policy and organisational matters.

In the morning, Party President Michael D Higgins opened the Conference, before a 2-hour debate on health policy, featuring Deputy Jan O'Sullivan, Cllr. Colm Keaveney, Dr. Billy O'Connell of the Ennis Hospital Action Group and Dr. Jerry Cowley (General Election candidate in Mayo).

Over lunch, activists received training across a number of areas, including specific training for new General Election candidates, Directors of Elections and Election Agents.
