Paddy Cosgrave

I live in Rathfarnham with my wife and grown up family,  I am a retired telecoms engineer and was elected to South Dublin County Council as a Councillor in 2009-14.

I am keenly aware of the issues that affect the day to day lives of Ballyboden/Rathfarnham and Knocklyon/Templeogue residents. Our area is changing with pressure growing on traffic, planning and local facilities. Over the years I have led the way on local issues from sustainable planning to public transport provision. We need a strong representation from the Ballyroan/Butterfield and surrounding areas in Rathfarnham/Templeogue on the Council to ensure new development happens according to the wishes of the local residents.

I have also campaigned to defend services at our local hospital in Tallaght. As the former chair of the Local Area Committee of the Council I also fought against what I see as over development in the Planning area and I am fully supportive of the Council's fight against graffiti.

I believe that the role of a councillor is to defend the community interest and not just what officialdom believes the community needs. I’m proud to be part of a Labour team, with a real vision for our country, locally and nationally. Now more than ever our community needs strong, imaginative leadership. With your support, I’m determined to make that happen.
