A new policy agenda is being pursued with Labour’s new leader Brendan Howlin as we are ready to move forward again. Together we can do what is needed for all our communities to create the society where we all can live and be successful together. It is imperative that the Labour party in the coming years not only do what is best for economic recovery and growth but do what is best for society and our communities.
As a young person I am fully aware of the difficulties and challenges people face every day, I know what it's like to face into a precarious employment situation and the effect it has on family life. That is why I am willing to work with you so we can move forward together.
For this to work you have to know who I am. My name is Paul Brophy and am 29 years old. I hail from Danesfort but my roots are in Kilkenny City. My Mother is a Smyth from Patrick’s Street and my Dad is from Newpark. I have one sister who is 23 and works with people with disabilities. I was educated in St.Michael’s N.S Danesfort and the CBS Secondary Kilkenny. I studied in Carlow College and Trinity College, where I received my Second Level Teaching Qualification. I now work in administration.
I enjoy all kinds of sport and have a big interest in community and inclusion. Community is something I believe in strongly and it’s the base upon which everything is built. All Labour representatives, past and present, from Carlow/Kilkenny have put this at the centre of their work, people like former TDs Seamus Pattisson, Ann Phelan, Marie Fitzpatrick and the late Joe Cody.
It was a great honour and a privilege to be appointed Labour Party Local Area Rep for my community in what is now called Kilkenny City West. This vast area stretches from Coolaghmore outside Callan to the Rock Bar on the Freshford Road. It also includes the majority of areas in St. Patrick’s, St. Canices and St. Mary’s Parishes in the City.
Where can we work together:
- Local Authority Matters, such as planning and roads
- Grant Applications
- Social Welfare Issues
- Personal issues
- Confidentiality guaranteed
I can promise you one thing and one thing only. I will work very hard and honestly on your behalf. I will say what I mean, and mean what I say. You deserve better than having your intelligence insulted. The next few years will require a lot of hard work but together, come the 2019 Local Elections, I sincerely hope I can offer you a Labour Party candidate who work’s for the betterment of our community and who makes Kilkenny City and County one of the best places in Europe to live, work and raise a family.
Looking forward to speaking with you soon,
