O'Brien raises Gleanealy NS safety concerns with Minister Alan Kelly
Issued : Friday 28 February, 2014
Labour Local Election candidate, Paul O’Brien, discussed his concerns about the safety of the footpaths surround Glenealy National School with Minister Alan Kelly at the recent Labour Party Conference.
“The footpaths leading up to the school, as well as the two entrances are of concern to a number of parents walking their young children to school. Walking is the cheapest most environmentally friendly means of transport, and it would be a retrograde step if parents were put off walking because of safety concerns.
“As a minister with special responsibility for Public and Commuter Transport, I have raised this issue directly with Alan Kelly, and asked any funds exist to deal with this issue. The Minister has confirmed to me that he will look into the issue."
