Cllr. Munster needs to clarify position on abuse

How much does Sinn Fein in Louth know? How much information is Sinn Fein in Louth willing to reveal? And how much is Sinn Fein in Louth keeping back - and why?These are the questions that need to be answered by Sinn Fein representatives in relation to the Paudie McGahon sexual abuse case according to Labour Cllr. Pio Smith.

“Cllr.Imelda Munster has been selected by Sinn Féin to contest the next Dail election for Drogheda and given the recent sexual abuse and cover up charges levelled against the Sinn Fein organisation in Louth I feel that a clear statement needs to be made by her as to whether she believes Paudie McGahon or her Sinn Féin colleague Cllr.Pearse McGeough.

The people of Drogheda need to have absolute confidence in any TD that represents them as law makers in Dail Eireann, we must be able to believe what they tell us. So the question for Cllr. Munster is, does she believe Paudie McGahon when he says that he was abused and subjected to a kangaroo court by Sinn Féin and IRA members in 2002.

Cllr McGeogh claims that he told Paudie to go to the Gardaí in 2002. Both versions can’t be true, so who does Cllr Munster believe, the rape victim PaudieMcGahon or her colleague Cllr McGeogh. This is an important question that needs answering.

Sinn Fein in Drogheda cannot live in an ethical vacuum in relation to the Maria Cahill and Paudie McGahon revelations. Cllr. Munster has in the past been very vocal on many national  issues however there has been a noticable silence from her in relation to the McGahon and Cahill controversies. Child sexual abuse is a hugely important issue and people need to know where Sinn Fein public reps stand in relation to Paudie McGahon’s  charges of a cover up”
