Seamus Rogers has contested numerous General Elections in Donegal. He was first elected to Donegal County Council in 1960, when he was one of the youngest serving councillors in the State.
A retired trade union official, Seamus served for three years as Chairperson of the Donegal County Board in the mid-1970s. Seamus has been a life time campaigner for workers, the unemployed, inshore fisherman and small farmers; as a Director of the County Donegal Parents and Friends of People with a Disability, Chairperson of the Rosses branch of the Lifeboat Institution and an active trade union official.
He has also been active with local youth and sporting organisations and has been involved in the campaign for improved cancer care services and the extension of BreastCheck screening services to the North West.
