Labour Women Conference 2014

The National Bi-Annual Conference of Labour Women is taking place on Saturday 1st February 2014 in the Oak Room of the Mansion House, Dawson Street from 11am until 5pm. From 11am-1pm we will have a panel discussion on Women in Public Life with guest speakers, followed by an address by the Party Leader, An Tánaiste, Eamon Gilmore TD. We will also be awarding the inaugural Rosie Hackett Award to women who have made an outstanding contribution to the lives of women in Ireland. After a light lunch, the AGM will take place during the afternoon session from 2pm-5pm.
Each Constituency can send five delegates and three substitutes to the Conference. Please liaise with your Women’s Officer if you are interested in attending as a delegate. You can also attend conference as an observer if all of your constituency delegate passes have been used. We are encouraging as many women members as possible to attend the Conference next year so please feel free to contact Billie Sparks via the contact details below for further information. The deadline for delegate submissions is Friday 24th January 2014.
Labour Women Executive Election Nominations
All Labour Women members are entitled to nominate themselves as a member of the Labour Women Executive. If you are interested in getting involved with Labour Women and working on the Executive with a passionate and dedicated team, this is for you! This is an exciting time for women in politics in Ireland with gender quotas on the horizon and we are always looking for enthusiastic women of all ages from across the country to get involved. Again, for further information contact Billie via the details below. Nominations must be received by 5pm on Friday 17th January 2014.
Motions to Conference
Each Constituency can submit three motions to the Labour Women Conference. You should liaise with your local Women's Officer to finalise the motions from your constituency. The Deadline for Motions is Friday 17th January and a Preliminary Agenda will issue on Monday 20th January, with the deadline for amendments being Friday 24th January.
All Constituency Women’s Officers have been asked to organise a meeting in consultation with their women members in advance of the Labour Women National Conference so please contact your local Women's Officer for further information or feel free to give Billie Sparks a shout in Head Office via [email protected] or 01- 678 4712.
