This event organised by The 5050 Group will give the general public, women running in an election for the first time and those who will consider supporting candidates an opportunity to hear from politicians, including our own Rebecca Moynihan, who will share their tips and tales from their own experiences of politics and campaigning.

16 Days of Action Campaign

25th November to 10th December 2013

One in three women worldwide face abuse, violence and rape every day. In no country of the world are women free from this fear and terror. In Ireland, one in five women experience domestic violence during their lifetime, and it is estimated that 213,000 women in Ireland are living with severe abuse from their boyfriends, husbands and partners.

Since 1996, Women's Aid has used the 16 Days Campaign to raise awareness of the reality of domestic violence and to push for positive change to increase women's safety. Women's support services, groups under the Local Community and Development Programme, Family Resource Centres, student groups, and others hold local awareness raising events throughout the country during the 16 Days of Action to highlight the issue of domestic violence and promote the services available for women.

TEDxCorkWomen is an independently organised community event, hosting the most inspiring talks from women across the community. The event aims to bring together people to discuss the overarching question of TEDWomen: How are women & girls shaping the future as leaders, innovators and inventors? under the 2013 theme of TEDxCorkWomen: ‘Freedom From Conformity’

The event will be held on the 6th December 2013 at The Firkin Crane, Cork City and ticket prices range from between €15-€18.
